An elaborately ornamented Victorian era Pique pendant in the shape of a fanciful chandelier with swags and garlands galore. The technique is called 'Pique Pose' and is one in which an inlay of fine strips and wires of Gold and Silver is pressed into the warmed Tortoiseshell to create strikingly beautiful and intricate designs. Of course this type of jewellery is no longer made as the Turtles are protected, but it is collected widely.
This pendant hangs 6cm from the top of the bale and we have paired it with a fine gold coloured pure silk ribbon but it will work just as well on a chain.
